      The Science Leadership Academy is a public magnet high school that emphasizes inquiry-driven, project-based learning. A partnership between the School District of Philadelphia and the Franklin Institute, SLA focuses on science, technology, mathematics, and entrepreneurship, and it emphasizes the core values of inquiry, research, collaboration.   Looking to create a measure of political independence for federally financed education studies, a House subcommittee last week approved a plan to form a new national academy for education research.
